Passing... Alone against these messages
Softly... My doubts drown in tide of fears
Lonely… I can’t find my way and go on
Fatefully… I try overcome my will
Sadly… Just wasting my sanity
Finally… I don’t know how can I be strong
I was born feeling alone
In the world I always felt that was wrong
It was me against ancient rules
They carved in stone
If people are good just because
They fear punishment and claim a reward
They are sheep who can’t think by themselves
And obey their fears
I don’t know when these thoughts have begun
And can’t tell what is right from wrong
But my selfless creeds always tell me to
Stay true
I don’t care if my grief wins again (I don’t care)
If my faith is so selfish after all (After all)
Like a shooting star all these old creeds they come and go
As a tyrant I sit on my throne (As a tyrant)
On a throne made by flesh, stones and bones (On a throne)
And I hope I won’t lose myself this way so long
Crashing... Something I always believed in
A fabricated righteousness
Ancient rules set on stone
Feeling… I don’t belong in this tragedy
I’ll free myself from this sorrow
And I’ll spread my wings far away
I don’t know when these thoughts have begun
And can’t tell what is right from wrong
But my selfless creeds always tell me to
Stay true
Tide of Fears is about feeling out of place in a world ruled by old rules carved in stone. It questions people who do good only out of fear of punishment or hope of reward, and argues for thinking for yourself and staying true to your own values, even when doubt pulls you under.
